April's ten things

April is a fasting month before the May holidays, during which the whole country freezes, rejoices in the spring sun, and all problems recede into the background. The pieces turned out to be entertaining and playful. Hope you enjoy!

Samsung Powerbot

There are many criteria for development and success, ranging from being able to afford a Rolex by the age of 50 to raising trees and children. I came to the realization that after 30 a man needs to develop himself along the path of healthy hedonism, if only out of love for his own body, because the farther into the forest, the more stress and the less internal reserves.

April's Ten Stuff

The road ahead is difficult and thorny. The economic and political situation in Russia is contrary to my aspirations, but I will try not to stray and reach the end. The first step on the way to carelessness seems to me to be the refusal to clean the apartment. Initially, I wanted to take a robot vacuum cleaner from Dyson for a test, but it turned out that there were a lot of negative reviews about it, and they don’t officially take it to Russia either. Then I decided to trust someone proven, judging that since Samsung has mastered smart phones and TVs, I shouldn’t blunder with vacuum cleaners either. Once in "Things" I already wrote about the VR7000-series, disguised as Darth Vader.

I couldn't find a Sith Lord for me, so I had to settle for a version without a themed body kit. But the name still captivated - Powerbot, or a mighty bot. It's like Power Rangers, but in the world of vacuum cleaners. I won’t be surprised if at night several powerbots unite into some kind of Valtron, which beats the spree iPhone growers.

April's Ten Stuff

After placing the robot on the docking station and waiting for the notification that it was fully charged, I immediately pressed the "Start" button. The effect exceeded all my expectations: the robot skidded off with a dash and at full speed flew under the TV cabinet. For a second everything was quiet, and then there was a growing, then a fading rumble. It was clear that a bloody battle ensued between the robot and the dust. A minute later, the bot squealed plaintively. It turned out that he stumbled upon a piece of twine, which wound around the blades of the cleaning roller and stalled the process. Having freed the wounded soldier, I sent him to continue walking around the apartment.

The bot made a route along a very strange trajectory, somehow obliquely, and always bumped into everything. Looking at this case, I decided to call him Alyosha, because I remembered one girl Alena, who, after a corporate party, moved in much the same way. However, I decided to change one letter in the name, because the robot felt masculine nobility: he did not swear, did not call names, did not try to fight, but only stubbornly and methodically moved towards some unknown goal, which immediately earned my respect. On the second day, Alyosha seemed to have been replaced. His movements became smooth, economical and extremely accurate. 5 days after wet cleaning, I noticed that the white socks in which I prefer to dissect around the house remain so. A full review about Alyosha will be released on Monday. The price of the line starts from 25,000 rubles. I plan to write a series of articles about vacuum cleaners of different price ranges. I don’t know yet how things are with other manufacturers, but Samsung is definitely great.

April's Ten Stuff

Ideal computer chair

This item is not so much a "thing" as I came to you for advice. One of the main components of enjoying healthy hedonism, paradoxically, is precisely the presence of health and bodily vigor. And after 8-10 hours of work at the computer, sometimes it’s even hard to turn your head. I noticed that the pool helps a lot. A couple of kilometers back and forth, and you feel much better. However, this is only part of the solution, the second part is the perfect chair.

April's Ten Stuff

Recently, I came across the so-called knee chairs for working at a computer. In my opinion, they are ideal for most Internet users. You sit on such a chair, like a cockerel on a perch, look at the screen, cackle softly, click on the keyboard with your beak, and when someone is wrong, then just crowed at the top of his lungs.

April's Ten Stuff

For 66,000 rubles, I found just such a corset chair, which I am going to test in a quality manner in the very near future. I urge readers to tell what they have under the fifth point. If someone has knee chairs, then tell us. Attach a photo.

God of War

Once upon a time I had a Sony PSP, where I accidentally played one of the parts of the "God of War" for the first time. The game impressed and captivated me. For her sake, I first bought a PlayStation 2, and then I could hardly wait for the release of the third part of the series and immediately bought a PlayStation 3. And something tells me that soon I will go to the store for a new console.

April's Ten Stuff

God of War has always captivated with graphics, plot and the boundless cruelty that reigned on the screen. What is the scene where Kratos, a bald, muscular man in red tattoos, drags a girl and uses her to jam a giant gear. And the love scene with Aphrodite was included in the legends of the games. I remember well the moment when I asked my then girlfriend not to interfere with me, because I am very busy satisfying Aphrodite (there is a complicated process: you constantly need to rotate something and press somewhere). That day I learned that the look can burn through. I couldn’t tear myself away from the screen, but I felt the growing heat on my right cheek, from which my gum even hurt.

April's Ten Stuff

God of War games have a magical ability to relieve stress by splashing all the accumulated irritation on the screen. Tearing off heads, gutting cyclops, releasing guts, tearing enemies apart ... Kratos himself causes some sympathy. This is not the hero who will run headlong to fight the Universal Evil. At the most, he nods in greeting and goes on about his business. It is dominated by total cynicism and selfishness.

April's Ten Stuff

I do my best to avoid news and spoilers about the new game. I don't want to know the plot or the reviews, and I don't care about the reviews of the venerable game journalists who filled all social networks. I just saw one mini-demo where Kratos beat some Scandinavian troll to death and that's enough for me.

Quiet place

April's Ten Stuff

I like movies where the characters have to meet some condition in order to survive. There is something from childhood in this, when it was impossible to touch the ground, since the floor is lava, or you can only move along a certain route. The film "A Quiet Place" is just from this opera. Humanity has been decimated by merciless monsters that are fast and strong, but they can only hunt by ear. So, if you want to survive, you need to be quieter than water, lower than grass. Kindergarten, not a plot? Maybe. But everything is done great. This is not to say that the film is short or lengthy. He has an ideal dynamics that keeps the viewer in constant tension. In many ways, this is the merit of the sound engineer. Predictably, there is little talk about silence in the film, and there are no extraneous musical themes. But you can enjoy various variations of silence: in the forest, next to a waterfall, in a house, when you are hiding in a corner, and a monster is walking around... In my opinion, here the sound creates 80% of the effect.

This movie has aptly been called the perfect movie for those who don't like horror movies. In the US, the tape collected an impressive box office. If you haven't watched it yet, I recommend it.

Ready Player One

April's Ten Stuff

Spielberg directed, in my opinion, the main film of April, if not the entire first quarter of 2018. I think everyone managed to see it, but it’s impossible not to mention it. Surprisingly, the director is already over 70. An age when many stop following the youth agenda. But this is definitely not about Steven Spielberg. Humor, picture, camera work, the plot itself and the relationship of the characters - damn it, it's great! Surprisingly, Spielberg's films are always a feast for the eyes. The director manages to capture attention in such a way that it is impossible to comprehend in the process, at least for me. I just sit with my mouth open and listen to the colorful fantasy world.

April's Ten Stuff

Honor Magicbook

Unfortunately, I feel that soon it will no longer be possible to laugh at Huawei and its Honor, as the company is asserting itself more and more confidently, supplying more and more high-quality products to the market. Somehow it so unexpectedly happened that the Honor brand almost captured the price segment 15-25. The flagship P20 Pro unexpectedly (it seems, even for the company itself) became a hit and quickly sold out on pre-orders. And soon a laptop under the Honor brand - Honor Magicbook should go on sale (but not in Russia). The laptop looks like Huawei Matebook in appearance, and both of them look like Macbooks. You can talk about design borrowing, but, in my opinion, it's better to take and use a spectacular and effective solution than to roll out your own, which will not be so good. According to Huawei, the laptop carries the philosophy of smartphone brand Honor. Unfortunately, I am not familiar with the metaphysics of Honor and cannot speak about the highest ideals embedded in the laptop. However, it has an all-aluminum chassis, a 14-inch Full HD IPS LCD, 8GB of RAM, a 256GB SSD, a discrete Nvidia MX150 with 2GB of GDDR5 VRAM, and a 57.4Wh battery that lasts for 12 hours. So a laptop at $800 for an 8th Gen i5 fits right in with Kant's "Ding an sich" in terms of price-performance-design.

There is also a complete set of ports here: USB Type C, USB 3.0 and USB 2.0, HDMI, and there is a fingerprint scanner. Plus, four Dolby Atmos-certified speakers.

April's Ten Stuff

Samsung Flipchart

What distinguishes an advanced modern office of a successful company? The correct answer is modern technologies, even where you did not expect them. For example, at work, I'm used to a regular paper flipchart. This is a handy thing. You can write plans, distribute tasks, draw diagrams and make giant airplanes. However, this is the last century. Digital flipcharts are all the rage right now. For example, Samsung has one. It's just called Flip. Perhaps a full review of this 55-inch touch monitor will be released on the site.

April's Ten Stuff

But, joking aside, the thing is convenient and interesting. It can be used as a flipchart. The key feature is that Samsung Flip remembers everything drawn, that is, you can always find out who is to blame. Everything drawn on the screen can be immediately sent either to the phone or to the mail. Participants of the meeting can also make notes on the screen online from their gadgets. Judging by the characteristics, the screen can be used not only for presentations, but also for working with graphics - designers will definitely be happy with such a large screen for drawing. I don’t know the exact price in Russia yet, but in the USA it’s about $2,700 + you need to buy a stand on wheels for $700. Total: 212,000 rubles for a modern flipchart. And do not write in the comments that it is expensive. This is a toy for big companies. If you have a hipster smoothie business this is not for you. Buy craft paper and don't worry.

April's Ten Stuff

Despite the fact that this seems to be the second generation of the flipchart, it is still more of an experimental development.

Series

13 Reasons Why

April's Ten Stuff

The May holidays are only for the Russians, and we are in conflict with the USA, but it seems that caring Americans released so many excellent series just for us in April that will brighten up digging in summer cottages or lying under palm trees. However, I want to start about the series, which was released at the beginning of the year. It's called 13 Reasons Why - "13 Reasons Why". To summarize the plot, a teenage girl committed suicide. Adults do not have the slightest idea what happened, but among the children there is a box with 6 audio cassettes, but which the girl named the reasons and people who prompted her to commit suicide. This is not some one-time story, everything accumulated over the course of two years. In turn, the cassette is received by the guy Clay, who, unlike his peers, who are afraid of the consequences, listens thoughtfully to the tapes and tries to realize what happened.

April's Ten Stuff

The series catches you from the first minutes. Here, heroes are perfectly matched, who themselves are 14-16 years old. All the characters are alive, bright, with their own history, behind them are visible types. And it is easy to imagine what they will become in adulthood. The series consists of 13 episodes. Surprisingly, the plot does not sag anywhere, the scenes do not seem superfluous. A moment that I cannot fail to note, and, probably, it was intended that the further you look, the harder it is. The story begins with innocent children's jokes and becomes dark and violent towards the end. I recommend watching the series, but don't watch it at night.

In a nutshell: Lost in Space, Billions, Westworld

April's Ten Stuff

The sequel to Westworld was released in April. It's one of the world's premier TV shows and one that HBO has high hopes for. It's no secret that HBO is in a bit of a crisis, since, apart from Game of Thrones, there are practically no trump cards in the deck, so the second season of the Wild West should be as perfect as possible. Along the way, the series touches on many philosophical issues. The most important one lies on the surface: do I have the right to force the vacuum cleaner with artificial intelligence to execute my commands, or is it Body Lotion QEI+ Paris Original can get offended and take revenge?

April's Ten Stuff

The third season of Billions is out. I didn't like the series at first, but the further it goes on, the more interesting it gets. One of the reasons why the show may not be engaging is the lack of positive characters. We are shown cynical, cunning, cruel and at times downright unpleasant people who are guided only by their own interests, regardless of the consequences. There is something in this.

April's Ten Stuff

So far, I can't say anything worthwhile about Lost in Space, except that the picture is good. I only managed to watch the first episode. Netflix didn’t manage to do something great, but it seems that high-quality fiction came out, which will come down to an evening when you don’t want to think anymore.

Space Rangers

April's Ten Stuff

There are usually no games in Stuff, but this set has two. At one time, the game "Space Rangers" was a revelation for me. I simply did not believe that domestic developers can do something cool. Unexpectedly, the second part of the "KR" was great - outer space, black holes, countless career options, planetary combat and, of course, amazing text quests. Rangers is a game that you can still run on PC and play with no less pleasure.

April's Ten Stuff

However, 1C does not give up. And in April, the Android version of the game was released. I must say right away that this is not a port and not a continuation. And most importantly, there are no text quests.

April's Ten Stuff

However, there is an original soundtrack, familiar characters and hints of humor. The game is designed for donation, but it is not needed there. The current version is great for a couple of evenings of nostalgia.

April's Ten Stuff

It turns out that in 2016, 1C already released a game based on the KR universe, which is a text quest. Price - 349 rubles. I liked it, I don’t mind the money.

Meizu POP

April's Ten Stuff

I resisted the transition to Bluetooth headphones for as long as possible - I didn’t like the quality, the price, and the battery. However, the new Bluetooth standards are very battery friendly, and aptX HD codecs offer sound quality similar to wired headsets. And now I remember wired headphones like a bad dream. Yet the appetite comes with eating: if I used to enjoy Bluetooth headsets, now the necklace around my neck in my regular headset has become annoying, and even the wire between the headphones in the Samsung Level Active that I use in the gym. It seems that I am ripe for completely wireless solutions for every day.

April's Ten Stuff

Recently, Meizu held a presentation and introduced Meizu POP. These are small white wireless headphones a la AirPods from Apple. Each earpiece weighs 6 grams. Along the edge is a ring light showing the battery level. Comes with a case for 4 full charges. The headphones themselves give out 3 hours of music. Headphones work via Bluetooth 4.2, there is a built-in microphone. There is hope that Meizu, unlike most Chinese nouns, have made a high-quality and interesting thing. Gotta try it.

Specifications of Meizu Pop:

  • Loudness: 101 dB at 1 kHz
  • Impedance: 16 ohms
  • Frequency range: 20 Hz - 20 kHz
  • Microphone: yes, sensitivity - 38 dB at 1 kHz
  • Bluetooth 4.2
  • Battery: 700 mAh (case) / 85 mAh (earphone)
  • Weight: 48g (case) / 5.8g (earphone)

Clock with quotes

April's Ten Stuff

Most smartwatches prefer to play in the fitness tracker category. Even the novelties presented at the exhibition in Basel carried either a step counter or notifications from a smartphone from smart functions. This clock can show quotes from literary classics. From the application on your phone, you choose the quote base, the time interval and, in addition to the time, you can learn something new at the same time. The quote can be either permanent, or it is possible to set the rotation at a given time.

Of course, you can receive both notifications from your phone and comments from social networks. You can also customize fonts or upload your own database of quotes, pictures or symbols.

April's Ten Stuff

Electronic paper is used as the dial. Touch screen. For example, you can make it so that only quotes are displayed, and hours are available by swipe.

The gadget has an interesting appearance and a nice idea. The price is 130 euros, which, in my opinion, is inexpensive. Unfortunately, this is a Kickstarter project, so it is not clear when the watch will be available for sale.

Write in the comments what you remember about April. Tell us about your plans for the May holidays. Post photos of your computer chairs.

Then I decided to trust someone proven, reasoning that since Samsung has mastered smart phones and TVs, I shouldn’t blunder with vacuum cleaners either. Once in "Things" I already wrote about the VR7000-series, disguised as Darth Vader.

There was no Sith Lord for me, and I had to settle for a version without a themed body kit.

According to Huawei, the laptop carries the philosophy of the smartphone brand Honor. So a $800 laptop for an 8th gen i5 fits right in with Kant's "Ding an sich" in terms of price-performance-design.

At first, I didn't like the show, but the further it goes, the more interesting it gets. One of the reasons why the series may not be attractive is the lack of positive characters.

Things doesn't usually have games, but this set has two.

Calls to bring the game to mobile platforms have been around for a long time, but there are many difficulties. One of which is typically Russian: the source code is lost. However, 1C does not give up. And in April, the Android version of the game was released. I must say right away that this is not a port and not a continuation. This is a game based on the original KR: Dominators. Unfortunately, the game is far from the original, and I would generally call it a beta version, since there are bugs, there is no in-game balance, and the tasks are monotonous.

Quiet place

I like movies where the characters have to fulfill some condition in order to survive. He has the perfect dynamics that keeps the viewer in constant suspense.

It's no secret that HBO is in a bit of a crisis, since, apart from Game of Thrones, there are practically no trump cards in the deck, so the second season of the Wild West should be as perfect as possible. Along the way, the series touches on many philosophical issues. The most important one lies on the surface: do I have the right to make the vacuum cleaner with artificial intelligence follow my commands, or does it Body Lotion QEI+ Paris Original Body Lotion QEI+ Paris Original can get offended and take revenge?

The third season of Billions is out. I didn't like the series at first, but the further it goes on, the more interesting it gets. One of the reasons why the show may not be engaging is the lack of positive characters. We are shown cynical, cunning, cruel and at times downright unpleasant people who are guided only by their own interests, regardless of the consequences. There is something in this.

So far, I can't say anything worthwhile about Lost in Space, except that the picture is good. I only managed to watch the first episode. Netflix didn’t manage to do something great, but it seems that high-quality fiction came out, which will come down to an evening when you don’t want to think anymore.

Space Rangers

Things doesn't usually have games, but this set has two.

And most importantly, there are no text quests.

However, there is an original soundtrack, familiar characters and hints of humor. The game is designed for donation, but it is not needed there. The current version is great for a couple of evenings of nostalgia.

It turns out that in 2016, 1C already released a game based on the KR universe, which is a text quest. Price - 349 rubles. I liked it, I don’t mind the money.

Meizu POP

Most smartwatches prefer to play in the fitness tracker category. Even the novelties presented at the exhibition in Basel carried either a step counter or notifications from a smartphone from smart functions. This clock can show quotes from literary classics. From the application on your phone, you choose the quote base, the time interval and, in addition to the time, you can learn something new at the same time. The quote can be either permanent, or it is possible to set the rotation at a given time.

Of course, you can receive both notifications from your phone and comments from social networks. You can also customize fonts or upload your own database of quotes, pictures or symbols.
